Musical Theatre

I have been working on the ‘book’ and songs for a piece of musical theatre called ‘Noor Lives in Jaffa’.  It concerns that contentious period in history when Britain was still in charge in Palestine –

The story is thus: WWII has just ended and a mixed group of locals and British personnel become friends in the dying days of the British Mandate in Palestine in 1946 – in Jaffo. Their children, in turn – a group of teenage girls, become friends at the local Ecole des Fréres (local French school), form a tight bond and start to rebel.  Ezra, pro-British but keen on the Zionist dream, begins to work for the Resistance and at some point begins to do things he never thought possible.  His daughter Hannah, Noor and their friends begin to question the adult world around them as the political situation becomes more and more explosive…

If you would like more information please read a full synopsis,  look at the first few scenes, or listen to the songs – NB: these are only rough recordings…
